Morning all. I hope your week is going well and life is being good to you and your loved ones. Please find this weeks’ Midweek Meditation below. I hope you can make the time to read it over and find something there which will give you some comfort in these difficult times.
I don’t know about you but when I’m watch unfolding news on TV, I’m quickly fed up with so-called ‘experts’ going into endless detail, attempting to explain reasons for what has happened.
Whether it’s Covid updates, Political squabbling, shootings or whatever, the newscasters all seem to feel the need to give us their personal opinions and explanations.
Realistically, these self-proclaimed “authorities” don’t know why these things happen, but they fill up endless hours of time with their ramblings.
As believers, we’re also tempted to seek reasons for why things happen, especially if we’re personally affected.
We question why God allows bad things to happen to good people or why those of the world seem to experience so few problems while we struggle with unanswered prayer and unexpected trials.
We want to believe that God has reasons for all that we go through but we wish he would enlighten us as well.
However, those unanswered questions help us to develop our faith.
Even though we may never fully understand why certain things happen, we can walk our path with confidence, one step at a time, trusting that our Lord is in control and is walking beside us all the way.
READ – Isaiah 55 : 8 – 9 from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
PRAY – All powerful God, the horizons I see are often clouded with questions and concerns. Help me learn to trust more and accept your plans for my life – safe in the knowledge that you walk with me each day, even through the ‘Valley of the Shadow’ kind of days.
Psalm 23 verse 4 from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff… they comfort me….”
Deuteronomy 31 : 3
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
PONDER – Do you trust God enough to believe that He really does walk with you through your life? It’s a lovely thought isn’t it? Having God beside you watching, caring, comforting. Well you can be sure that it is more than just a thought, He really is with each moment of each day. Jesus says – “For I will always be with you.” (Matthew 28:20). And you can trust in His promises because of His great love for you, yes you. How blessed we are !
