Are you content?
Here’s a question for you ~ Are you content?
Such words as ‘content’ and ‘satisfied’ are emotions which are hard to pin down and elusive to achieve.
We can be ‘content’ even although all is not well in our lives.
We can be ‘content’ with things as they are even although they’re not perfect.
‘Wholeness’ is a similar word which means mind, body and soul are at peace and at one.
Easy to say – not so easy to achieve.
Our lives, our bodies are made up the physical and the spiritual.
Balancing the two is the secret to contentment and wholeness.
An over emphasis on one or the other leads to an imbalance in our lives.
That is why so many today are ‘out of balance.’
They take care of their physical needs but forget about the importance of taking care of their spiritual needs.
Being content comes by living a balanced life.
There are many books and DVD’s which tell us how to achieve that – how to eat healthily – exercise – how to reduce our stress levels and so on – but there is one book which has been around for centuries which tells us the best way to achieve inner and outer peace……
And yes, you’ve guessed it – the Bible.
We only have to read the Gospels to see that the ‘holistic approach’ – is just how Jesus cared for people – mind, body and soul.
It tells us how to live a good, whole, peace-filled and contented life.
“Live God’s way” it tells us – and you will have life – and in all it’s fullness.
The Apostle Paul wrote –
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
“Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
2 Corinthians 12:10 –
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, through Him, I am strong.”
Let us pray –
Holy Heavenly Father, we give our thanks for all your goodness and all the many blessings that you give to us each day – so many that we take then for granted. Forgive us Lord, and forgive us for so often being “too busy” to talk to you or listen for your voice. Help us to be calm and content with what he have.
Bless our families, we pray – bless each one of us whoever we my be – wherever we may be – we are all under your ever watchful eye.
We know that you hear us when we pray to you in faith – so hear us now as we pray the prayer which binds as one family – the family prayer – the Lord’s prayer –
Our Father.. Who art in heaven.. Hallowed be thy name.. Thy kingdom come.. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven….. Give us this day our daily bread.. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.. Lead us not into temptation.. But deliver us from evil .. For thine is the kingdom.. The power and the glory forever….
How is YOUR life Balance?
Does it make you content?
If not, it can be – take the time- MAKE the time to get your life back in balance – and so know the deep, deep peace of God for yourself.
LISTEN TO THIS –
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
Of course you are!
Isaiah 43 : 4 says “I am the lord your God, the Holy one, Your Saviour – you are precious and honoured in my sight – and I love you.”
Yes – He means you.
