Good morning all, I trust you are all keeping as well as is possible in the present circumstances. Here is your opportunity to sit at peace for a few minutes and listen to this weeks Reflection. I hope you find it helpful. Please take care and God bless. Iain
“You are wonderfully made…”
Good morning folks,
How are you today? Well I hope and managing to keep safe.
As you will have noticed I often begin my services with asking “How are you?”
I know you can’t answer me, but I ask because so many of us are struggling in different ways and perhaps it’s nice to know that someone cares enough to ask.
I often find myself struggling – add to that the feeling that I am just one person, making my way through life on a small planet in a massive Universe – it’s easy to understand how humans can often feel a wee bit insignificant at times.
Just look up to the night sky on a clear night, it can be quite overwhelming.
The Bible says that compared to God, we are like ‘grasshoppers’ (see Isaiah 40:22).
Not very flattering!
God is the Creator of the whole Universe, including all the billions of billions of planets, star`s, black holes etc (see Isaiah 40:26). In comparison to Him – “our nations are just a drop in a bucket.” (see Isaiah 40:15).
That doesn’t really make me feel any better – until I remember this one thing – this is the same God who made me.
He made me (and you), the Bible tells us “with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with unfailing kindness, He says.” (See Jeremiah 31:3).
So if you are feeling down and things are getting on top of you, if all your “get up and go – has got up and gone” – never forget that the great Almighty God of the Universe, knows YOU and He loves you so very much.
He knows us better than we know ourselves – He knows all our faults, our failings – our strength and our weakness – and yet He loves us still.
And that is a wonderful promise, made to you, to me and to all who open their hearts and their minds to Him.
The writer of Psalm 139:14 says –
“I praise you O Lord because I am wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
Let us Pray ~
Loving, listening Lord, thank you for this amazing world, with all its beauty and its splendour – all made that we might enjoy and experience the wonder of your creation.
Thank you too for making each one of us – all different, all ‘wonderfully made’ in your own image but all special in your eyes. Lift us up when we feel low, keep us mindful of your many blessings and may we never be afraid to tell others of your greatness.
As you think about all this – let me leave you with the words of Psalm 8 : 1, 3 – 5
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels.
and crowned them with glory and honour.”
Wow! I don’t know about you – but I’m feeing better already! I hope you are too!
Now that really IS something for us to think about this week! Don’t you think?
Take care and May God bless you –
and your loved ones.
Hope your week is going well –
And please – keep safe…
